Stampin' Up! Whimsical Trees Fun Fold Card for the Happy Inkin' Thursday Blog Hop

Welcome to the Happy Inkin' Thursday Blog Hop. This week we have a theme challenge. If this is your first time here, welcome! If not, welcome back!! Either way, you're in for a treat!!! I used the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set to create my card for today.

Can you guess from my card what the theme is?

Were you right?

My fun fold today is a mini Bendi card inspired by Gloria Plunkett. It is only my second try at this fold. I obviously forgot one very important element in folding it...you DON'T! But I did, so it is really bendy! The card lays flat and I mean flat. The only folds should be the ones on the score lines. Can you see the bendy on the Bendi?
Yes, that bottom strip should be a smooth curve when standing up and flat for mailing. Trust me, I won't forget next time!

My card base is Misty Moonlight. The Designer Series Paper I used is from the Penguin Playmates. The penguin is punched with the Penguin Builder Punch; the other critters and little tree are cut out from the same DSP. It's free with our Sale-A-Bration promotion. ($50 purchase from current catalogs before s/h). The inks I used are Fresh Freesia and Just Jade. I used a die from the Stitched So Sweetly set for my sentiment. I sponged the edges with Fresh Freesia.

Here's the back side created with the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set...

I used my Light and Dark Mint Macaron and Fresh Freesia Stampin' Blends to color the ornaments. Measurements and directions are listed after the links for the hop.

I'm entering my card in these challenges:
NBUS #29 - Never Before Used Schtuff (first time I have used Whimsical Trees)
Christmas Craft Creations Non-Traditional Colours Challenge as this card is quite non-traditional in more ways than one!

Thank you for taking a look at my post. Now, on with the hop! Clicking on the "next" button will take you to Akiko. Clicking on the names listed below will take you directly to team members and their projects. Thank you for hopping with us.

Measurements and Instructions:

Basic White cardstock:
2 1/2" x 4" (2) and scrap for sentiment

Misty Moonlight cardstock:
4 1/4" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 2 3/4" - this is your base
2" x 4 1/2", scored and folded at 1/2", 2 1/4" and 4" - this is center piece with the fox and penguin
1 1/4" x 6 1/2", scored at 1/2" mark at each end - this is your Bendi with the polar bear (don't bend it!)

DSP:
4 1/8" x 5 3/8" - adhere to base, fold in half and burnish the base at the score line
1 7/8" x 3 1/2" - adhere to center piece, fold in half and burnish at the score lines
1 1/8" x 5 3/8" - adhere to Bendi cardstock

Adhere the center piece to card base with liquid glue, Tear & Tape or Stampin' Seal+

Adhere the Bendi panel to the card base with the scored ends adhered to the back. I adhered mine to the DSP before I adhered it to the base and didn't like that way. It's your card, so your choice!

Adhere the Basic White panels to the back of the base once you have stamped them.

Adhere your "critters" to the front as shown.

Stamp the sentiment and adhere to the Bendi panel.  Don't fold the card...lol! When you stand the card up, it should have a natural bend because of the fold on the base and center piece.

If you try it, let me know how you did and even share a photo. If you have any questions, I'll try to give you an answer asap if you leave a comment.
