Thanks for visiting. You are in for a treat today as it is our weekly blog hop. If you've been here before, you know we have a talented team! It's hard to be humble when you are just speaking the truth..lol.
Amy gave us a sketch for this challenge and here it is...
I thought I was creating an exact image but when I was finished, I noticed I was a little off...but close! Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades but I hope my team feels close counts in sketches too! Here's what I mean...
My card base is Basic Black card stock with a mat of Whisper White. Before I adhered the mat to the card front, I stamped my inside sentiment on it in the center with Balmy Blue ink and cut it out with a die from Layering Circles Framelits. I put it aside.
Then I cut a scalloped circle from the same die set using a sheet of Gingham Gala Balmy Blue DSP. I adhered it to a Pearlized Doily and cut it in half. I adhered the two pieces to a mat of Balmy Blue (which nicely covered up the hole from the scalloped die cut) and left space to stamp the sentiment. Well, that was a flop! They always say there's a fix for a mistake in card making. So, I stamped it on a scrap piece of Balmy Blue and affixed it with mini dimensionals. I added four Basic Black faceted dots to dress it up a little. (I wish I had stamped it with Versamark and heat embossed it with black emboss powder.) The front was done...easy peazy.
I took the sentiment I had put aside and adhered it to the non-pearlized side of the doily, which I had sponged with Balmy Blue ink. I liked the reverse side of the Gala Gingham I used above so I made it for my inside background and adhered the sentiment panel to it. The little butterfly and the sentiments are from the Beauty Abounds set.
Now here's the thing...once I really took a look at the sentiments, I realized the inside one should have been on the front and vice versa. I can do that if I cut the card in half and remount it, BUT, I just added an additional ellipsis after "people". Right or wrong, it is what it is. I will be writing and I will be writing an additional thought on the inside before I mail to to my friend, like maybe "and I'm glad you accepted my choice". What do you think?
My color choices fit the challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More #340 and at Through the Purple Haze #156 - I've Got the Blues
and again at the Paper Players Friend Theme PP440.

DeleteI've got to order more of that gingham paper before it's gone--I love it so iI love your card! Great take on the sketch.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susan. I thought about ordering it but I'm going to wait for the gingham in the new In Colors.
DeleteOh, Karen, I don't know that the inside should have been the outside sentiment, and vice versa. I rather like the way it reads just the way you did it. Nice fix for a mistake too! That is creativity a work!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julie.
