Amy's Inkin' Krew November Blog Hop

Image may contain: text
Well, here we are in November already and our next-to-last hop of the year! Thank you for visiting.

Each month Amy's team makes cards/projects centered around a theme – and this month is "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays".  We can interpret that any way we want – so be sure to check and see who went which way! Speaking of which way, you can scroll down to the "previous" and "next" buttons to find your way to the other blogs! If you get lost, you can just click on a name too; BUT, first take a look at what I've created (please)!

I decided to go "the reason for the season route"...you will see how in a minute...but in the meantime...

I started with an Island Indigo base. I placed the Card Front Builder Thinlits frame on Champagne foil and ran it through my Big Shot.

Whisper White is the card stock I used for the art piece. I made a couple of masks: one for the moon and one for the snowbanks. I positioned them with repositionable adhesive. I wanted high snowbanks (because we have none in Florida) so I positioned my first mound fairly high up.

I started sponging my sky VERY lightly with Night of Navy ink, removed the moon mask and stamped a few clouds in Night of Navy using the cloud from In the City stamp set. I also adhered one of the stars from the frame. I moved my snowbank mask down and sponged with Pacific Point and Island Indigo inks. I repeated this process sponging with those colors and Lost Lagoon (retired).

Using the Lovely as a Tree stamp set, I placed my trees where I wanted them after inking them up with Night of Navy full strength. Then I used more Lost Lagoon to created a shadow effect at the base of the trees. I put Heat & Stick (retired) on the shadow areas, melted it with my heat gun, sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds on it and reheated it, just a little bit. You could also use regular Elmer's stick glue in place of the Heat & Stick. Once that was not tacky, I wrapped a piece of Island Indigo Ombre ribbon around the bottom of the snow scene and secured it with Scotch tape on the back.  I cut a small piece and tied it around the ribbon strip. I then adhered the art piece to the foil frame.

Okay, so now here's a lesson for you if you haven't learned it first hand...
Ha! I had stamped the bottom scene first and then stamped the sentiment! I was not paying attention to the direction of my stamp! So, there's two sides to every piece of paper...

ahh, much better! I used the town scene and verse from Night in Bethlehem stamp set, stamped in Island Indigo, plus the star (stamped in Delightful Dijon - retired) that led the shepherds and wise men to their King (and mine!).

I sponged the edges and mat with Island Indigo (to lessen the brightness of the white) and adhered it to the inside of the card base. (Scroll on down for the card cuts and all the products you’ll need to make this one for yourself!)

Now that you’ve seen my card, I hope you’ll take a little time to hop along to the other cards/projects our team is sharing. Remember, click any name below, or use the Next Blog button to jump to Julie or the Previous Blog button to get to Sue.
