Stampin' Up! Pear Pizzazz Diagonal Split Card

Happy Mother's Day peeps. My son is grilling filet mignon and lobster tails for later in the day. My daughter will be calling as I told her I didn't want a present, I just wanted to hear her voice from the Adirondacks.

My card today reminds me of fall in the Adirondacks with the orange and rust colors. This was some of Carole's stash that Sue M. took and she brought it out for us on Thursday. The design was inspired by My Creative Corner but I also made a similar card on this post. Although I loved the panels raised up with adhesive strips, I would not do that again. This one was much easier.

We started with a card base of white card stock that was 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". On top of the card front we adhered a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Carole's patterned paper. I'm thinking it might be Graphic 45 paper but I'm not sure.

Then we took a piece of Pear Pizzazz and a piece of white card stock that each measured 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Take the white piece, measure 3/4" down from the top on the left side and put a little tick mark with a pencil. Then put another tick mark at 1 1/8". On the right side, measure down 3" and put another tick mark.

With the two pieces together, cut on the diagonal from the 3/4" to the 3" mark. Then on the diagonal again, cut from the 1 1/8" to the bottom right corner tip.  Take the white card stock pieces and cut 1/8" off each of the inside edges. Now you can line them up with the Pear Pizzazz pieces and glue them together.

Stamp your sentiment on the bottom left panel. Carole had pieces of lady bug circles, butterflies and bees that must have come from a set of embellishments. International Art & Soul has an Ecology/Environmental/Conservation Challenge #58 today. You probably know this but I'll share it with you anyway, "A healthy ladybug population can keep insect pests low and reduce the need for insecticides. Ladybugs are beneficial to farmers because they eliminate these pests in an inexpensive and safe way." Did you know you can buy lady bugs? We thought about it for our screened in plant/herb area but the smallest amount was 1500!

Sue provided green pearls and we adhered everything with glue dots. Then we adhered those panels to the card front. Mine didn't line up at the top and bottom edge but it looks okay with the patterned paper showing a little. Some used dimensionals to raise the panels, but I kept mine flush. The flower was another pre-cut accessory and it's adhered with dimensionals.

What a joy it was to be using Carole's stash in her memory. We all loved her so much and still do.

Thanks for stopping by today and if you have any questions, ask away. Oh, and did you get these roses for Mother's Day? Only a mere $329...well, they ARE guaranteed to last a year!
