Stampin' Up! Dragonfly Celebration Card

"Man forgets his purpose, and thus he forgets who he is and what life means."
Francis Schaeffer

I googled "how many times is the word 'forget' in the Bible" and the sources all varied so I decided not to delve into it. Well, thanks to Joanne James, I did not forget to check my scrap bin after I saw her challenge at As You See It Challenge #241 (more on that below)!

Here's what my scrap bin looked like before I took everything out of it...

Not too bad you say? Well, here it is after I took out the scraps and started organizing them...

So, I took a piece of current DSP and laser cut paper (retired) from the bottom left corner, a critter and a pre-stamped, pre-cut sentiment to created this...

Not only is Joanne's challenge the scrap bin, but it's a speed challenge! If you follow me, you know how much I love them. Thank you, Joanne and AYSI for helping me get cleaned up!
Once, I had picked out the scraps, I got all my other supplies together and set the stopwatch! It took me 05:28.59!! Gluing was what took the longest after cutting, scoring and folding Misty Moonlight cardstock for my base.

Using liquid glue, a sponge and silicone craft sheet, I adhered the laser cut piece (do you see the hidden Mickey?) to the Misty Moonlight 2020-2022 In Color DSP.  My dragonfly critter from the Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set had been stamped in Misty Moonlight ink and punched with the Dragonflies Punch. I adhered it to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals. I adhered the sentiment with Dimensionals as well. I added three 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots to the front and called it done!

Now, the only downside to my scrap bin is that I have no idea what stamp set the sentiment came from nor which die I had used to cut it out. If you know, let me know in a comment so I can make it again!

Here's my scrap bin now...
much mo' better! I'm going back to finish up some 3" x 3" thank you cards and already have the ingredients on top. I might time myself on those and enter the challenge again!!

Thank you for stopping by today and tomorrow I'll have an M & M card for you.

  2. Yay - someone with a scrap bin like mine Karen!! I totally get that feeling of 'what did I start??!' as you empty and sort. Bravo on creating such an awesome card using the items in your scrap box (and yes, I did see the hidden Mickey - this Mouse fan sees them everywhere!!) Never one to resist a challenge, I think the label you used for your sentiment is from the 'Ornate Frames' die set - can't place the sentiment though ... And your card is a triumph in under 6 minutes! Thanks for sharing with us over at As You See It this week and taking on my scrap bin speed challenge!

    1. Thank you, Joanne. It is one of three containers! I'm tempted to toss everything and start fresh! That's too much of a challenge though! I really appreciate your comment, especially letting me know the die set. Hopefully someone else can recognize the sentiment. I'll be playing again!!

    1. Thank you, Jan, and the same to you. I just sold the card Monday so now I have to create another. At least I know it won't take too much time once I cut the papers.

  6. What a great card, Karen! Those laser cuts make a quick and impressive card and I love the dragonfly addition! Heck, I just love dragonflies, anyway! Good for you for sorting your craft bin! Mine stayed just the way it was, minus the few things I used! Thanks for getting your adrenaline pumping with us at As You See It Challenges this week!
