Stampin' Up! Sending Sunshine Birthday Card

Do Fridays bring a sense of peace and relaxation for the pending weekend? They do for me even though I'm retired. BUT a sunset or sunrise...that is always peaceful and makes me think all is well with the world...soon I pray. I hope my card today will bring you a sense of peace. I also think it shouts summertime at the lake. DL Art Challenge #263 "Summertime" needs to see this!

I must admit I LOVE this card. That's why I told Michele Wright that I would be CASEing her card and she said, "Go for it!" so I did!!

My card base is So Saffron with a like-color mat and a Basic Black mat. The art panel is Shimmery White cut out with a Stitched Rectangle Die.

On the Shimmery White I stamped the sentiment from the Sending Sunshine Stamp Set with Versa Mark Ink and sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder, then heat set it. I sponged part of the bottom in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink until I achieved the effect I wanted and wiped the words with a paper towel to bring back the white.

Next I stamped the larger water image from Sending Sunshine in black ink and sponged over the line left from the outer edge of the stamp. Then I used Mango Melody ink to stamp the sun at the horizon.

Using a swirly motion, I sponged the top portion in Rich Razzleberry, Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight until I achieved the effect I wanted. With that finished, I stamped the tree leaves in black ink.

All the pieces are adhered with liquid glue.

Now, on to the inside...

I sponged the Whisper White mat in Mango Melody ink with a dabbing motion, stamped the birthday sentiment from Well Scripted (retired) and the other sentiment from Sending Sunshine in Mango Melody. I stamped the tree leaves in black ink.

I'm entering two challenges today:

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you will have a great weekend.

  8. This is one fantastic card!! So clever how you added the water stamp over the blended black area, it really makes a difference to the top of the water. And the silhouette of the leaves to the side adds more interest too. Its a really amazing one-layer card and I'm so glad you shared it with us at TIME OUT!
