I used the Stampin’ Up! Toile Christmas Stamp Set to create my card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. We’ve got a color challenge this week and here is what I created for it...
and here are the colors (you probably guessed already!)
I used Very Vanilla card stock for my base and the mat that is embossed with the Woodland EF. I adhered that to the base with liquid glue.
Then I cut the circle from a scrap of Garden Green card stock with one of the Stitched Shapes Dies and adhered it to the embossed mat with liquid glue.
My cardinal is stamped with Real Red ink, the branch was stamped with Garden Green ink, the sentiment is colored with a Real Red Stampin' Write Marker and a Green Stampin' Write Marker all on a scrap of Very Vanilla. All were cut out with the Christmas Cardinal Dies. I colored the berries with the Real Red marker. The branch is adhered to the card front with liquid glue. The cardinal and sentiment are adhered with Dimensionals.
With my Real Red Dark Stampin' Blends, I colored three small Rhinestone Basic Jewels and adhered them to the card.
Now for the inside, which became a nightmare for me!
I could not get the Very Vanilla/Copper Ribbon to become a nice bow so I just stretched it across the bottom and secured it on the back of the Garden Green and Real Red mats. I had a scrap of Very Vanilla on my desk so I stamped a sentiment from Toile Christmas in Garden Green. The holly leaves are from the Merry Christmas to All Stamp Set.
When I stamped the leaves, my block had ink on the edge, which I did not notice. So I took the edge die from the Magnolia Memory Dies and cut the boo boo off...or so I thought. Nope, there were still traces so I colored the edge with my Garden Green Marker. They say there's always a fix for a mistake. Well, yes, that one worked out. I was so pleased that I adhered it to the mats. THEN, I realized I had forgotten to cut the right edge so that it looked the same as the left! No remedy for that! I've lost my mojo and haven't posted in a couple of days because of it. I know it happens and I just hope it passes quickly.
I hope you enjoyed my card today and thank you for joining the hop. Clicking on the "next" button will take you to Eva Dobilas. Clicking on the names below will take you directly to the other talented team members and their projects.

ReplyDeleteVery pretty card! Love that cardinal and the embossed background is perfect! :)
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful Karen. May have to CASE!!
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to fix a mistake and making another. But to be honest I didn't notice until you mentioned it. I was focused on how lovely the scalloped edge looked. Thanks for sharing it encourages the rest of us to know experienced crafters still make mistakes. Kathy Sinnamon
