Stampin' Up! Winter Woods Birthday Card

Happy Saturday, peeps. Hope you are starting out the weekend with grand plans. If not, I'm right there with you. Doctor's orders are to not lift, push, pull or do anything until I after I have had an MRI! Xrays showed a possible VCF (vertebral compression fracture) in T12. Sounds pretty fancy, eh? Well, of course, we know it's not fancy but take a gander at the fancy card I made for one of the bartenders at the Celtic Ray...

Her daughter loves trees and the birthday celebration is next week.

I used the Winter Woods Stamp Set and the Joseph's Coat Technique. This was a new technique for me and I watched many videos to accomplish my own look. Repeat Impressions DCC A719 Try a New Technique is exactly what I did...it won't be the last time! I'm also playing at Dare2BArtzy August Challenge: Anything Goes

I sponged the top of a piece of Whisper White with Highland Heather and Night of Navy. I sponged the bottom with Shaded Spruce and worked my way up to the top section, adding a little So Saffron in the middle.  Then I rubbed my embossing buddy over the entire panel, stamped the trees in VersaMark Ink, sprinkled the image with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it. I sponged most of the area lightly with Early Espresso and wiped it off quickly. I doubt I could get this exact effect again but I just LOVE it!

The sentiment from the Well Said Stamp Set is inked in Early Espresso.

I adhered the panel to a mat of Champagne Foil after I had cut a tree out from the center. This is how I used that tree...

I stamped the tree slab from the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set in Gray Granite stamped off once. The "wonderful" sentiment from that same set is stamped in Early Espresso. The "happy birthday" is stamped with the retired Well Scripted Set. The corners are punched with the Detailed Trio Punch.

Both the front and inside mats were adhered to a Soft Seaside card base.

Thank you for visiting today and I hope you enjoyed my first attempt at this technique.

  5. Such a beautiful card. I love everything about it. Out of adversity can come great cards. No lifting? not needed to make a card. Nor is pushing, pulling or whatever. Praying that all goes well. I have done Joseph's Coat once or twice. Love it and don't know why I don't do it more often.
