Welcome to our weekly Blog Hop. Today we have a color challenge.
I got my inspiration from Chris Smith. I used the same design and stamp set she used but different colors and I varied the stamping and embellishments. That's what you call a CASE in the stamping world, just in case you haven't heard that term.

My card base is Thick Whisper White cardstock 11" x 4 1/4", scrored and folded at 5 1/2".
I cut a piece of Whisper White 5 1/2" x 2 3/4", ran it through my Big Shot with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder and then adhered it to a piece of Poppy Parade 5 1/2" x 3". I then glued that to the card base.
For my sentiment oval, I used the Winter Woods stamp set. Unfortunately, I stamped the sentiment first and cut it out with the 3" Layering Oval Framelit Die. So, I had to stamp only the tippy top of the trees, (you'll see the whole tree inside) by stamping full strength; stamping again without reinking; and following that pattern until I liked the way it looked.
On a scrap of Whisper White, I stamped three evergreen boughs and cut them out with the In the Woods Framelits Dies. Using a neutral ink (Crumb Cake), I stamped two pines cones and cut them with dies from the same set. I adhered them to each other with mini dimensionals and then to the sentiment. I tied my bow with Garden Green and White Baker's Twine.
For the inside, I stamped the evergreen with Garden Green, second generation (which for those who aren't familiar with that term means stamping off once on a scrap piece of paper so it's not full strength). Then I stamped the sentiment from the Snowflake Sentiments set, using Poppy Parade. I love the tree stamp because it looks like there is snow on the branches.

ReplyDeleteThanks much, Amy.
DeleteSuch a beautiful card, Karen! And, I love the way you used the big tree on the inside. ...At least you could use your first oval. I didn't decide to add the greeting until after I cut mine out. I didn't stamp it right and had to start over...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Chris. Ooh, starting over...takes some of the fun out of it! I appreciate your commenting.
DeleteLovely CAS card! Really love the addition of the pine boughs (you KNEW I would, huh?!)
ReplyDeleteYes, I know my Mary likes...no, LOVES...pine boughs.
DeleteKaren, what a lovely card. That oval is what I call a Happy Accident, where you have to make do and it turns out wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julie. Yes, I like happy accidents!
DeleteLove how you stamped around the bottom of the sentiment piece, clever and looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Shelagh.
