Stampin' Up! Cllimbing Orchids for Happy Inkin' Thursday Blog Hop

I used the Stampin’ Up! Climbing Orchid stamp set bundle from the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog to create my card for the blog hop today. The set will be in the upcoming 2018-2019 catalog but it won't be offered as a bundle. If you order it before May 31, 2018, it is available for 10% discount through my online store.

We have a sketch challenge this week and this is what I created for it.

Here is the sketch we are using (I flipped the sketch to suit the direction of my orchid stem and flowers):

No automatic alt text available.

My card also works for the challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge #290.

I began by adhering a mat of Share What You Love DSP to a mat of Marina Mist. I wrapped a piece of Linen Thread around the two mats and tied a bow.

Next I stamped my orchids and leaves on a piece of Whisper White card stock using Memento Tuxedo black ink. I put all the plainer orchid stamps and leaves on my Stamparatus to accomplish all stamping at once.  I cleaned my stamps with the upcoming Simply Shammy, removed them and put them back where they belonged (unusual for me!) I then took the ones that are more detailed, aligned them with the already stamped ones using the Stamparatus again (available June 1). I inked them up with Rich Razzleberry ink, sponged them with Marina Mist ink and sponged the leaves with Old Olive ink.

With the dies that match the stamp set, I ran everything through my Big Shot with the Magnetic Platform. Using the tree branch die from Seasonal Layers Thinlits (carrying over), I cut the stem out of Crumb Cake card stock.

I took a piece of Just Add Color DSP (on sale now and retiring May 31), fussy cut two of the watering cans, and colored them a tad with all three colors from the Watercolor Pencil set and blended with a Blender Pen.

My sentiment, from Swan Lake, is stamped in Rich Razzleberry on a scrap of Whisper White. I sponged the edges with Old Olive and cut it into a banner.

After doing a dry fit, I adhered all the pieces to the mat. For the watering cans, sentiment and smaller leaf, I used mini dimensionals...everything else got liquid glue.

I then adhered the mat to my Whisper White card base.

For the inside, I had an oopsy.

I had intended to have just the Marina Mist mat and Whisper White mat. I didn't notice that the edge of the stamp from Swan Lake (retiring May 31) had ink on it. Ugh! It's a stamper's nightmare! I had already punched the corners with the upcoming Detailed Trio punch. So, I had a piece of Old Olive card stock on my desk and it fit just perfectly over my boo boo...a stamper's dream...lol. I cut another piece of Whisper White and restamped. The top sentiment is from Swan Lake and the bottom one is from Sweet Cupcake (also retiring May 31).
