We are on our way to Disney for 4 days so my posts will be quick and easy, scattered amongst food and beverage shots.
Looking at the inside of my card, you would think I had a few beverages making it! Alas, no wine was involved in the making of this card!
I was inspired by three challenges, the first one being by my PA friend and fellow demonstrator, LeAnne at The Paper Players #369 Theme Challenge
My second inspiration was the theme of winter at Dragonfly Dreams. My third inspiration came from Stamping Sensations One Layer Christmas Card. (Complete opposite of yesterday's card!)
The front of my card is one layer but I DO have a problem not layering so the inside is layered! My card base is Whisper White stamped with Real Red and Garden Green. The stamp sets I used are Carols of Christmas and Christmas Pines. I stamped the focal point first, then covered it with a mask and stamped the boughs and holly. Can you see where I'm going with this?
Now for the inside...
I printed out the sentiment on my computer using the RGB codes for Garden Green and Real Red. I was too lazy to get out my sponge to do the edge of the Whisper White mat so I used my Garden Green Stampin' Write Marker and got carried away. I matted that on a panel of Real Red and matted that on Garden Green and adhered the whole shebang to the card base.
The inside is one hot mess but I kind of like it for some odd reason. BUT, I really like the one layer front and thank the above challenge blogs for leading me to do this. I hope you will take time to visit the challenges and thank you for visiting me!

Well, have fun at Disney! Seems like a fun time ahead! I love your piney card! I sort of did the same thing on the inside of my card...stamped the sentiment, then the pines over top. Not a good thing, had to stamp the sentiment again and layer it over the pines!! I like your effect, especially with the little holly berries and leaves! And the inside is cute! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, LeAnne. Day 1 has been fun with good eats and drinks at the Food and Wine Festival.
DeleteKaren, this is lovely! The way you've masked the sentiment then stamped the boughs of holly creates the illusion of a layer. Very clever and I like the crisp clean look you've achieved. Thanks for joining us at The Paper Players this week and thank you for the kind comments you left me.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jan. Your compliments are much appreciated.
DeleteOh, how pretty! Love the CAS design, great colors too! Perfect for making a big stack for Christmas. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amy...yes, great for production line...except for the inside :-)
DeleteYou had me at "pine boughs", Karen! Very pretty! And yes, as Jan mentioned, the masking creates the illusion of a layered card! Very clever! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary; you're right, there IS something about pine boughs and cones that are so appealing.
DeleteA really stylish card and lovely in the traditional colours and agree one layer is soooo hard, layers are tempting !
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for joining in at Stamping Sensations this month and enjoy Disney, it's been too long since I donned a pair of Mickey ears.

Thank you, Brenda. We are on a mission to find a certain pair of ears this trip. If we find them, a princess will be very surprised at Christmas!
DeleteThis is very beautiful made. Thank you for joining at Stamping Sensations this month.
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous one layer card! Had to smile at the inside layers, difficult to resist, isn't it?! Thanks for sharing with us at Stamping Sensations.
