Yesterday I saw three challenges that I thought..."I can do that". Well, I'm not so sure I could!
The Paper Players #347 had a theme challenge, so that was easy..."birthday"...thank you, Jaydee!
Sunday Stamps #154 - Sketchy Curves had a sketch that I knew I could do...thank you, Lisa.
Happy Little Stampers had a "Smoosh" technique but it was also a CAS...and my card was not that...I don't think...but I'll enter it anyway. They also had a watercolor challenge with a twist of masking HLS June Watercolour Anything Goes so I'll enter that too using the smoosh technique...Kylie, please be forgiving...lol!
All product is Stampin' Up with the exception of the "smoosh", which is Ken Oliver's color burst. I haven't gotten the hang of that yet.
My card base is Blackberry Bliss. I adhered a Tempting Turquoise mat to it. I used Shimmery White for my next mat. I masked the "gorgeous" sentiment area using the Word Window punch. I had to mask the other words on that stamp from Beautiful You so only gorgeous showed. Then I "smooshed the Whisper White mat with turquoise and fuscia. The water ran under the mask a little so I would have been better off just punching out the sentiment and adhering it.
The "happy birthday" was done using the 2 1/4" scallop punch, Labeler Alphabet, Thoughtful Banners and Beautiful You stamp sets. My ink colors were Daffodial Delight, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzazz, Tempting Turquoise and Wisteria Wonder. The woman this is going to is a very colorful person! The Melon Mambo DSP is from Festive Birthday, which just retired.
For the inside, I cut a mat of Tempting Turquoise. With the Corner Trio punch (retired), I punched the corners to represent the shape of the DSP on the front. I sponged the edges with Melon Mambo. The sentiment is from Beautiful You and is stamped with Melon Mambo. The butterfly is the Itty Bitty butterfly, which also just retired. I gave the butterfly "flight" with a Blackberry Bliss marker.
I really do think this card is a hot mess, but colorful. Oh, did I mention my friend is a hot mess too? She'd be the first to admit it :-)
Thanks for looking.
