Today I was asked to make a birthday card. She wanted it to be simple because the recipient doesn't like "fancy". I don't normally do clean and simple (CAS) cards but with the help of Seize The Birthday Black and White and One More Color
I was able to come up with this card...
Whatcha think? The inspiration came from a closed challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. All products used were Stampin' Up...so I'll give SUO Challenge #170 a try as well. Colors are black, white and Daffodil Delight. My banners are washi tape, the DSP is Inside the lines and the sentiment is from Weather Together. Since I used washi tape, here's that challenge...Less is More Challenge #320
Thanks for looking!
Terrific card! Thanks for sharing at Less is More!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susan. It was definitely a challenge for me.
DeleteA super card Karen with some really elegant elements on it. Fab use of washi tape. It would have been wonderful to see a little more "white" and patterned space on the card as we are a CAS challenge at less is more. Having said that your card is very classy indeed and I personally love it xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. I am never sure how much white space is enough, but I try to judge from the DT cards. Jen really threw me off with the black on her card. I glad you liked it though.
DeleteElegant and chic card Karen with some gorgeous stamping and fab use of the washi tape. As Sharon mentions we do like to see a little more 'white' space although it doesn't have to be white - just clean and void of pattern or detail. Hope this helps and thanks for sharing with us. Sarah
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sarah. The way you explained your CAS helped a great deal. Now I know I shouldn't use patterned paper even if is mostly white and I understand why Jen used black as it was solid. I appreciate both your and Sharon's comments.
DeleteWhat a gorgeously classy and stylish card Karen! I love the restricted colour palette and elegant details. Thanks so much for playing along with us at Less is More :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Esther. It was difficult for me to be restricted!
DeleteSuper perfect colours and I love the simplicity of your design. Just perfect for our flying challenge. So glad you joined the fun at SUO.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julia. It was a tough decision between the bee and the dragonfly.
DeleteLove the piece of DSP...such a CAS and beautiful design! Thanks for playing along with the SUO Challenge this time!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Connie.
DeleteGreat card Karen. I love how you backed the focal point with so many interesting layers. It shows how you don't have to color the whole piece of dsp. Thanks for playing along with the SUO Challenge.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cindee. I just received another batch of Inside the Lines today!
DeleteFantastic card and thank you for playing along with the challenge, how convenient to have a friend needing a CAS card, STB came to the rescue and you perfected the challenge with your splash of yellow!! Thank you for joining us at Seize the Birthday!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Colleen. Your challenge really was a quick lifesaver!
