When it comes to Easter, it's just like getting prepared for Christmas. Easter is my favorite Christian "holiday". It is filled with hope for me. So, when I saw Mary Deatherage's card on Stamp-n-Lingers, I just had to case it.
She entered hers in The Paper Players #337
and I am adding mine to
Now for my card...
I chose to mix the photo and the sketch from Fusion, which I loosely interpreted! Instead of yellow, I chose gold. My card base is Sahara Sand. The mats are Wisteria Wonder. I used DSP from Falling In Love and This Christmas. Like Mary, I stamped the cross with Versa Mark and Tuxedo Black Memento inks, then heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. I colored the "drape" with my purple Wink of Stella. I cut a metallic gold foil doily in half and placed it behind the music layer. The "palm frond" was cut from the Botanical Builders Framelits dies. The sentiment was heat embossed and is from the same stamp set as the cross...Easter Message. I sponged the edges with Wisteria Wonder. I pretty much adhered to the sketch by Claire at TPP; however, I notice I adhered my sentiment crookedly! Oh, well, I will never be perfect until I get to heaven!
Thanks for looking!
Beautifully beautifully done, Karen! I love the DSP behind the music and Cross. And Purple Wink of Stella! Genius. Gorgeous card! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary! I appreciate the inspiration you give me in your works of art, as well as the encouragement from your comments. The camera cannot capture the beauty of the gold embossing nor the Wink of Stella. Hopefully our pastor will look at it sideways :-)
DeleteVery pretty....I love Easter too! I love the gold doily, it adds a wonderful bit of elegance, and the musical background is a nice touch! So happy you played with us!!!
