Pink Flamingo!

If you follow my blog or visit every day, you know I always start my post line with "Stampin' Up!". Today is different. My card doesn't use SU products but tomorrow I'll be back to CASE this card using Stampin' Up! products!

We made this card at Barb's house last night with our card group. She had die cut the flamingo for us so all we had to do was sponge the art panel with her Distress inks, stamp it with Versa Mark ink, heat emboss it with gold embossing powder, adhere the flamingo, stamp the sentiment and affix it to the card. I added Melon Mambo retired enamel dots.

Did you know that flamingos no longer breed in Florida (according to some sources)? Occasionally they are spotted in the Everglades National Park. You can always find them at Animal Kingdom...thank you Walt Disney World! and you can find them in many yards in southwest Florida...plastic ones that is! They get their pink color from eating brine shrimp (they are born gray). If you are really interested, here's a link to an article in our local newspaper about them.

Now for the fronds on the card...did you know that palm trees bloom? Why yes, yes, they do and their blooms are male, pale yellow and very heavy. Just ask the men here who have to cut them off. Bees love the blooms! Ours are not blooming right now, but here's a pic I found of what ours looks like.

I say all that to say this...I'm entering this card at 4 Crafty Chicks #407 Birds 'N Blooms. I played with them back in May and I hope you'll take time to visit their site and check out their Design Team and other participants.

Thank you for stopping by, hopefully leaving a comment, and returning tomorrow!
