Stampin' Up! Ribbon of Courage and Hold on to Hope

My card for today is made for someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. I used my stamp set, Ribbon of Courage (for the inside - photo below), to enter

and my layout is based on Chrissy Larson's design at

My husband was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma in 2013 and was given 1 - 3 years to live. He is holding on to hope. The ribbon color for that is Elegant Eggplant.

Our daughter was diagnosed in 2016 with Lymphoma. The color for that is Wisteria Wonder. She is holding on to hope.

My grandfather died of stomach cancer when I was a baby. I am holding on to hope that I will meet him in heaven. That ribbon color is Marina Mist.

My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer a number of years ago and is still holding on to hope. The ribbon for her is Melon Mambo.

My brother-in-law was diagnosed with bone cancer and that color is Daffodil Delight. Fortunately, he did not have to suffer long. He and my sister held on to hope as long as they were able.

With all of them in mind, I created my card. I dry embossed the edge with the new Petal Pair TIEF, die cut the ribbons with the Support Ribbon Framelits Dies (which match the Ribbon of Courage stamp set) and adhered them with Tombow liquid glue. The sentiment is from Hold on to Hope and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.

Not only do we have to hold on to hope, but we have to have courage and I put that on the inside with the Ribbon of Courage stamp set. The color I used is Perfect Plum. I stamped off once for the ribbon and stamped "courage" full strength. I sponged the edges with Perfect Plum and lightly sponged the mat so it wouldn't be so stark white.

If you or anyone you know has been diagnosed with any type of cancer or terminal illness, you know hope and courage go hand in hand.

See you tomorrow and thanks for stopping by.

  6. Oh Karen, such a touching tribute. Some of us seem to get more than our fair share of dreadful things in our lives - all we can do, as you so rightly say, is to hold onto hope as well as have courage to keep on going. Bless you.

Sending big hugs over the Pond.
