Canada Goose

I love Canada (Canadian, if you prefer) Geese but I don't like to walk where they have walked! If you have had any encounters with them, you know what I'm talking about! I do hope your encounter with mine pleases you.

Since I won't have time to make a card tomorrow, I decided to post a second one for today. My sketch was inspired by My Favorite Things - MFTWSC332.

My card base is Smoky Slate. I added washi tape to the edge. I stamped my goose using a stamp from Stampin' Up Moon Lake, which was only available until June 2, 2015. I was going to remove the cattails and add flowers for Retro Rubber's Challenge #62 but then I googled cattails and came up with this info. Cattails are Flowers! There are some interesting facts on that site!

So, I stamped the goose with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it with the Basic Gray watercolor pencil from SU. I used the Bermuda Bay pencil for the water. I love my blender pen that moves the color around to give the effect of water coloring. The cattails are colored with the Crumb Cake SU Marker. I sponged the edges of the Whisper White oval with Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise. The mats for the oval and the banner are SU Kraft Corrugated paper, which is retired. I punched my banner with the Duet Banner punch, sponged it with Daffodil Delight and used the sentiment from Moon Lake. I think I have met the color requirements of Color Throw Down CTD442 Challenge. The design team wanted to thank Barbara for all the work she puts into the challenge site and I would like to do that too...thanks Barbara!

With the coloring methods I used, I am also entering my card in The Mod Squad Let's Color Challenge.

I have no idea where I got the inside sentiment but it was in my stash and was printed off my printer. I though it fit the front...even though those probably aren't goose feathers!

I enjoy making masculine cards because so many of my stamp sets are feminine. I only have three I use for masculine cards and they contain geese and deer. I need to get some and horses into my collection!

Thanks for looking.

  3. The cattails are certainly unusual flowers but are a great option for a masculine card. I like the corrugated frame you've got around your oval - it's a lovely detail. Thanks for joining us at Retro Rubber for our spring flowers challenge.

  5. We walk around a lake every day which has the beautiful geese living there. I know what you mean about not liking to walk where they are! I love the stately image that you have colored so well. This is a great masculine card and I love the verse inside. Thanks so much for joining in my Challenge for the Mod Squad this week. Good luck and hope to see you again.
